Meet Mikayla
Mikayla provides Early Intervention Services in Greenville County.
Hi!!! My name is Mikayla Rivers. I was born in Charleston, South Carolina, but I had the unique experience of moving around the world due to a military lifestyle. I was fortunate to live in incredible places like Japan and Germany for nine years before returning to South Carolina. Spending time with my family and friends I truly value, especially as a proud mom to a two-year-old, who brings so much joy to my life. I’ve always had a deep passion for children and caregiving. From a young age, I found joy in babysitting the neighborhood kids, and that love for nurturing and helping children has only grown stronger over the years. Whether it’s through parenting or working with children, I feel most fulfilled when I’m able to make a positive impact in their lives.
Background
Education:
Bachelor’s of Sociology with a minor in Human Services from Lander University
I began my journey in child welfare as a Foster Case Case Manager at the Department of Social Services (DSS), where I worked directly with children and families navigating some of life’s most difficult challenges. This role taught me the importance of early support systems, consistent advocacy, and the power of connection in helping children thrive. From there, I expanded my skills into healthcare case management, working closely with individuals and families to coordinate care, provide resources, and improve overall well-being. This role deepened my understanding of holistic support and how vital early, proactive intervention can be in shaping long-term outcomes. These experiences- combined with my lifelong passion for working with children- naturally led me to pursue a career in early intervention. Being a mother myself, I understand how critical those early years are for development. Early intervention allows me to bring together my background in advocacy, care coordination, and child development to truly make a difference in the lives of young children and their families. My mission is to provide compassionate, knowledgeable support to help every child reach their full potential- because every child deserves a strong foundation.
