Meet MeKel

MeKel provides Early Intervention Services in Spartanburg County.

“I was born and raised in Manassas, Virginia, which is a small town about thirty minutes outside of D.C. I got recruited to play lacrosse at Columbia College, where I graduated with a double major in psychology and child/ family studies in 2021. Even though I settled in Spartanburg  with my boyfriend, our two cats, and two dogs, my family still lives in Manassas. However, this does not stop me from attending the big family holidays and celebrations through the power of FaceTime! Even though I have only lived in Spartanburg for a short period of time, I am so excited to start building my life here with my partner and our fur babies! I love working for Tiny Feet because it is a place where I feel truly supported by everyone, no matter what the situation may be.”

Background

Education:

  • BA in Psychology and Child/ Family Studies- Columbia College

"I knew I always wanted to work with children, but I was not sure how I would do this as a career. As a kid, I was always carrying around a baby doll and making sure that it was taken care of, like it was a real person. When I went to college, I started out as a psychology major, but soon added on child studies when I realized that I wanted to engage with children from a developmental perspective. After college, I moved to Spartanburg and got involved in the field of ABA. However, as much as I loved ABA, I always felt as if I was missing the portion where I was involved with the child’s family. This is what led me to early intervention and Tiny Feet!"
