Meet Sunni
Sunni provides Early Intervention Services in Anderson County
Hello! My name is Nashunda Squier, but everyone calls me Sunni. I moved to South Carolina almost 6 years ago from NJ. It has been a bit of a culture shock, but in the best possible ways. I love Jesus and am regularly involved in my church. We have been married to my high school sweetheart for 14 years. We found our way back to each other later in life. I have 2 daughters and a cat named Elros. For the last five years, I have homeschooled my youngest and recently she has moved on to start her college journey. My nest is, therefore, empty. Now, I have some time for creating more. I am an artist (painting and collaging mostly) as well as an author. I have had a number of poems published in various anthologies, published a book of poetry of my own, and have written chapters in two different collaborative books. I am currently working on a solo book. I am also an avid reader. I love going to museums of all kinds… art, history, science; you name it and I’m there! I love exploring nature and going to explore new areas and towns. I also love antiquing and thrifting. I would also say that I am a lover of languages. I have studied American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. Next, I hope to start learning Hebrew
Background
Education:
I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech and Hearing from Kean University, where I also studied Deaf Education. In addition, I attended an ASL/English Interpreter Training Program at Union County College, though I did not pursue certification
I have held a number of positions working with the differently abled population. I have worked as a Paraprofessional in schools working to support children with differing abilities, as well as in schools for the Deaf. In addition to working with children, I have worked as a Direct Support Professional in occupational centers supporting adults with differing abilities.
